Helpables (“we”, “our”, “us”) helps people share and discover aid requests. Helpables operates on a pledge-based model.
This Policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and your choices.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

Account & Profile: name, email, password, optional profile photo/avatar, and the country/region you choose in your profile.
Content: aid requests you create or edit, items you favorite, and related metadata (timestamps, basic status).
Usage & Device: in-app interactions (e.g., viewing/saving AIDs), app version, device identifiers, and diagnostics/crash logs.
Connectivity: online/offline state to adapt the interface (e.g., limit actions offline).
Regional Data: your selected country (not continuous GPS) to personalize recommendations.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

Provide core features: accounts, profiles, creating and managing aid requests, and favorites.
Personalize recommendations based on your selected country/region.
Operate safely and reliably, including handling offline states and syncing when you reconnect.
Communicate important updates, security notices, and support responses.

3. Legal Bases (where applicable)

Performance of a contract: to provide the app and its features.
Legitimate interests: improve, secure, and support Helpables.
Consent: optional preferences (e.g., country-based recommendations).
Legal obligation: comply with laws or enforce our terms.

4. Service Providers & Processing

We use reputable service providers to operate infrastructure and features (e.g., authentication, data storage, and analytics/diagnostics).
These providers process information on our behalf, under contract, and consistent with this Policy.

5. Location & Recommendations

Helpables uses the country you select in your profile to show relevant aid requests.
We do not continuously track precise device location.
You can change or remove your country selection any time in Edit Profile.

6. Sharing of Information

We do not sell personal information.
We share limited data with service providers to run the app.
We may disclose information when required by law or to protect rights, safety, and security.
In the event of a merger, acquisition, or similar change, your information may be transferred as permitted by law (with notice where required).

7. Data Retention

We retain personal information as long as necessary to provide Helpables and for the purposes described here, unless a longer period is required by law.
When you delete your account, we delete or de-identify associated data, subject to limited retention for legal, security, and backup purposes.

8. Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to help protect your data (e.g., encryption in transit, secure authentication).
No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. Use strong, unique passwords and keep them confidential.

9. Children’s Privacy

Helpables is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction).
We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
If you believe a child has used the app, contact us so we can review and remove the account where appropriate.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy to reflect changes to the app or legal requirements.
We’ll update the “Last updated” date (when displayed) and provide additional notice where required.

11. Your Rights & Controls

You may:

Request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information (subject to verification).
Withdraw consent for country-based recommendations by removing your selected country.
Object to or restrict certain processing, and request a copy of your data (where applicable).
